The current paper of Bettenay presents eight 19th century case histories from well-documented Australian goldfields indicate the bonanza recoveries available to “first-movers” into previously unmined areas. The paper is a synthesis of the documentation, focussing on the earliest surviving official or verifiable accounts. 

The article of Hanel and Pfeffer is dealing with the results of casting experiments to reconstruct the production of Roman lead ingots with the help of archaeological experiments and further to investigate traces of the moulding process on the ingots and the epigraphic evidence there.
